Welcome Wizard

The Welcome Wizard is a guided walkthrough that helps you set up TabMail and introduces the core workflows. It runs automatically after first install, but you can revisit it any time.

What the wizard covers

  • Appearance — Choose your theme, message view (Card or Table), and sort order.
  • Setup — Select your default calendar and address book, and ensure plaintext composition is enabled.
  • Archive old emails — If your inbox is large, the wizard offers to archive emails older than a threshold you choose, giving you a clean slate.
  • Core features — Quick introductions to the popup, autocomplete, inline editor, chat, templates, email triage, and teachable tags.

Each step lets you apply TabMail’s recommended defaults with a single click—or skip ahead if you prefer your current settings.

How to open it

  1. Click the TabMail icon in Thunderbird’s toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click the Rerun Welcome Wizard button at the top.

When to use it

  • First time setup — The wizard appears automatically after install.
  • After a major update — Revisit to see new features or changed defaults.
  • Quick refresher — If you forget how a feature works, the wizard includes short explanations with screenshots.
  • Inbox cleanup — Rerun the wizard to access the “archive old emails” step again if your inbox has grown.
