Troubleshooting

This guide is for TabMail in Thunderbird. For the other apps, see iOS troubleshooting or Voice troubleshooting.

The TabMail toolbar icon is missing

Open Thunderbird’s Add-ons and Themes and check that TabMail is installed and enabled. If you need to reinstall, use the download page or installation guide.

AI features are not responding

Open the TabMail toolbar popup and check your sign-in status. Then check your internet connection, plan usage, and the AI opt-out in Settings. If you use your own provider, check its key and billing status.

Search cannot find my mail

Open Settings → Full-text search and check the native helper and index status. First-time indexing takes time. A Maintenance Scan can catch missing or stale entries; use Full Reindex when you need to rebuild the index.

If the helper is missing, install it from the FTS Helper tab. The add-on detects the helper automatically; a Thunderbird restart is not required just for helper installation.

Compose suggestions are missing

TabMail’s Thunderbird compose features require plain-text mode. Check that the compose window is in plain text and that AI features are enabled.

WhatsApp linking does not work

ChatLink is disabled. Use the native iOS app for TabMail on your phone.
