Web Search
Need to look something up to help with an email? The agent can search the web and bring information into your conversation.
Note: web search is disabled by default. You can enable it in your settings.
When to use web search
Web search is helpful when you need:
- Current information — “What time zone is Tokyo in right now?”
- Research for replies — “What are the current prices for product X?”
- Fact-checking — “What’s the latest on the conference schedule?”
- Background context — “What does company ABC do?”
How it works
When you ask a question that requires external information, the agent:
- Searches the web for relevant results
- Reads and summarizes the most relevant content
- Uses that information to help with your task
For example: “Find out what John’s company does and help me write a personalized intro email.”
Combining with email
Web search becomes powerful when combined with email context:
- “Research the company in Sarah’s email and draft a response”
- “Look up the product they mentioned and summarize it for me”
- “Find the documentation they referenced and explain how to implement it”
Privacy
When web search is enabled, the agent may send search queries to external providers to retrieve publicly available information. These queries are not linked to your TabMail account and are processed anonymously by the search provider. If you prefer not to use web search, you may disable it in your settings. For more details, see Privacy Policy.
